The Evolution of Grumble Farm

january 2010

Jonas’ Gotcha Day!

Jonas comes into my life for the very first time, stealing my heart & instantly becoming my Ride or Die ♥

February 2014

Chloe is Adopted ♥

Chloe comes home with me & seduces me entirely. I had no idea I could love any pug as much as I had fallen in love with Jonas, but she proves me wrong. I am quickly swept away by her bright & sparkly spirit.

DECEMBER 2015

The Diagnoses

At the age of 29, I receive a stage 3A colorectal cancer diagnoses that completely alters the trajectory of my life. My treatment & surgeries are complicated and ongoing, and the next 5 years of my life are spent navigating the ominous underbelly of the Cancer Industry as a whole.

AUGUST 2017

The Accident

While on a summer camping trip in Hinton, Alberta, we lose Chloe in a tragic accident. Immediately, something palpable shifts in the universe. My life will never be the same.

OCTOBER 2017

The Girls

Fern and Ivy are sent to help continue healing my broken heart, and I become the proud Mama of my very own Grumble ♥

JANUARY 2018

Grumble Farm Pug Rescue

In a moment of spontaneous courage, I set out on a long drive to pick up two neglected pugs who had been used for backyard breeding. I don’t know how I’m going to pull it off, but I’m determined to find a way. In the days that follow, I start the Grumble Farm Instagram page and begin creating fundraising campaigns in an effort to raise money for veterinary care.

FEBRUARY 2018

Grumble Farm’s First “Logo”

I use a piece of art I found on Pinterest as our logo, painted by Jeroen Teunen (@thedogpainter). As Grumble Farm grows, I know I won’t be able to use it for long, but it does the trick to start.

JUNE 2018

Grumble Farm HQ

Grumble Farm Pug Rescue & Re-homing Assistance gains momentum so rapidly that we decide to move into a home large enough to accommodate its’ growth. The following year is filled to the brim with pug rescue missions & various fundraising efforts.

MAY 2019

Single Girl Pug Pad

In the end, some people just weren’t meant for the Pug Life. As my long-term relationship comes to an end, the process begins to start wrapping up Grumble Farm Pug Rescue, and I move into a small downtown apartment with Jonas, Fern, and Ivy.

JUNE 2019

Grumble Girl YYC

Utilizing the incredible community of pug people that Grumble Farm has brought together so far, Grumble Farm Pug Rescue organically evolves into a pug-specific walking, sitting, and boarding business called Grumble Girl YYC.  The pug-mo-bile reaches max capacity several times throughout the week with the #GrumbleOfTheDay!

AUGUST 2019

10K

Grumble Farm’s Insta hits 10K! We celebrate this milestone with an adorable group photo to thank all of our new friends. I am so excited for the direction Grumble Farm is headed, and have every intention of continuing to  grow & nurture this wonderful community, both locally and online.

NOVEMBER 2019

Grumble Farm’s First
Custom Logo

Shae Motz, a dear friend & local tattoo artist, creates Grumble Farm’s first custom logo with Jonie’s face. I am completely enamoured with it, and it makes everything feel very real.

FEBRUARY 2020

Bandanas with
Coconut Collars

Grumble Farm pulls off its first collaboration with Coconut Collars and creates a limited edition collection of dog bandanas using our new logo. They sell out overnight (several times), and shipping them off to places all around the world is very exciting.

MARCH 2020

Love in a Time of Covid

Things seem to be gaining momentum for Grumble Farm, but when Covid hits,  I loose the large majority of my pug walking clients and can no longer host public events. Shortly before the lockdown, my photographer & videographer friend Jesse and I start (secretly) dating. Absolved of any work-relate responsibilities, we decide to take a sneaky trip to BC together in order to get away from the craziness of the city during the pandemic.

APRIL 2020

A New Plan

Inspired by our trip to BC, I connect with Lauren of L.Dot Designs with a renewed sense of hope and optimism for the future. Together, we create Grumble Farm’s official logo, and begin working on building Grumble Farm’s website, blog, & online store using all of our fresh, new branding elements.

MAY 2020

Goodbye, Calgary

As the pandemic continues, we decide to take a leap of faith and say goodbye to Calgary as we prepare to relocate to the West Kootenays in British Columbia with the pugs in pursuit of a new beginning.

SUMMER 2020

A Whole New World

Jesse & I spend the entire summer exploring the beautiful West Kootenay region while creating content for Instagram, YouTube, and the ongoing development of our new website. The transition from a big city to a tiny rural village in the wilderness is challenging, but it is well worth the effort.

OCTOBER 2020

Grumble Farm’s First Project

Jesse & I put together Grumble Farm’s first calendar with the help of a local designer & printing company using some of the best photos we’ve taken of the pugs over the summer - just in time for the holidays!

NOVEMBER 2020

3…2…1… LIFTOFF

After all of our hard work and dedication, Grumble Farm’s new website, blog, & online store officially launches! The future is bright & possibilities are endless. We are absolutely thrilled to officially welcome you to Grumble Farm ♥
